Fanis Maikantis, distinguished head chef from Agrinio, opened Panigyri in 2019, after leading the kitchens of some of the most excellent restaurants of the Cyclades and Santorini. Panigyri in Fira town represents Greek hospitality where food is the pillar of culture, and eating and drinking around a table is a way of life. In Greek, Panigyri means a traditional festival organised in the summer months mainly in the villages of the Greek islands: tables and chairs are usually gathered in the churchyard and people enjoy food and wine as they share the same table. The garden of Panigyri Festival Food resembles this joyous atmosphere with its casual seating area surrounded by fairy lights and trees where everyone feels at home.

Panigyri’s menu is a narration of Greek gastronomy at its best: local products sourced in Santorini, the Aegean islands and Crete; an exquisite selection of virgin Greek olive oils and Greek wines.

We care about the importance of seasonal cooking, using the best sourced ingredients that support small producers in Cyclades: we nurture food in the same way as our producers’ partners do, and we promote this philosophy both onto the plate and in the warm comfortable vibe of the restaurant.

Our chefs cook with 16 different olive oils from different Greek regions and each dish is seasoned in front of the customer, taking into consideration its place of origin, its variety and its characteristics.

At Panigyri Festival Food every day starts with a lavish breakfast served in the yard: poached, scrambled, and fried eggs collected daily from our hen house served with our signature sourdough bread, sweet pancakes and Greek yoghurt.

Our lunch and dinner menu offers a journey into Cycladic cuisine. We use only fresh ingredients from our garden or sourced in the Aegean islands to recreate traditional Greek dishes in a simple, yet tasty way: seasonal salads, homemade pasta, slow cooked meat, fish prepared with traditional methods.

Everyday, our wood oven serves special slow cooked classic casserole dishes and sourdough loaves of bread to go with your meal. A set menu is also available for those who don’t want to miss out on any delicacies. Our staff is trained to guide you in an authentic Greek culinary experience, highlighting the best virgin olive oils and Greek wines.

A meeting point for all

At night the yard also becomes the meeting point for both travellers and locals in Santorini. People who want to enjoy the relaxed vibe of Panigyri with one of its remarkable cocktails, while listening to traditional music and live events: for those who want to linger till late filling up with summer breeze and rebetiko tunes.

In May 2022 Panigyri Festival Food will open the doors of its own 2-acre organic garden, next to the restaurant.

Here they grow Santorinian tomatoes, onions, local cucumbers, white aubergine, pumpkins, watermelons, local greens and more.

Fanis Maikantis will be hosting a culinary experience where guests will be guided through a gastronomic journey focusing on an olive oil tasting (10 eminent virgin Greek olive oils) paired with Greek mezè freshly prepared with the products from the garden.

Surrounded by olive, lemon, fig and pistachios trees, travellers will be invited to understand the remarkable characteristics of each virgin olive oil, its origin, and how to best pair them with food. A unique adventure on the island of Santorini for those interested in discovering a new culture through food and flavours.
